Policy Dialogue Emerging Priorities in Health Sector Future of Healthcare Industry in Pakistan
Khyber Medical University, Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in collaboration with JIC Pvt. Ltd.., organized a policy dialogue on July 18, 2024, at its KMU Institute of Health Sciences Hazara. The policy dialogue brought together leading clinical practitioners and experts from around the world to share their experiences and contributions in regenerative medicine, molecular and biomedical sciences, stem cell research, nanomedicine, telemedicine, and precision medicine.

The dialogue provided a platform for sharing knowledge, discussing challenges, and establishing a roadmap for future research and development in Pakistan’s healthcare sector.
Meritorious Prof Dr Zia Ul Haq, VC KMU Peshawar, chaired the event, while M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of COMSTECH, gave a keynote speech. Dr. Azra Mahmood, Associate Professor at CEMB Punjab University, and Dr. Huma Qureshi, National FP for Viral Hepatitis, shared their thoughts on research and development in medicine. Dr. Ming Li, Associate Professor at the School of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering, UNSW Sydney, presented her work on nano-sensors, and Dr. Yasar Yousafzai shared genetic research being undertaken at Khyber Medical University, Peshawar. Dr. Muhammad Ayaz, Director of Operations at JIC, ensured support for KMU in advancing R&D work in Pakistan. Dr. Jasim Anwar, Sector Specialist in Health from the Planning Commission of Pakistan, shared the government’s 5Es framework and how it can lead Pakistan to a trillion-dollar economy by 2050.
The event concluded with a significant achievement as KMU and JIC, a global development company, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop collaboration in advanced medical fields in Pakistan.
